I just had the longest day at work and I wanted an athletic, carefree look, while going to a coffee shop and the mall. The goal was to soak in the sun. I got this outfit together and I've been meaning to wear this dress for the longest time. I had to ignore all the aunties while I was out because I knew there'd be something said about the length. Anyways, check out the look! I do this thing where I buy tennis shoes in the Boys section. I am a size 8.5 Womans and 7 Boys. This will probably save you a few bucks-- the same shoes are 15 dollars more in the Woman's section than in the Boys section at Footlocker. I really love pairing sneakers with dresses/skirts, in order to be far more carefree in my movement and be able to run around.
To be fashionably carefree is to literally do whatever you want and put together pieces that make you comfortable and make you shine. Ignore any of the hate that you may get, or just get back at the hate with wit and charm and continuing on with your wonderful ways. I have gotten a lot of crap for being carefree-- I had my pictures posted on slut shaming accounts, I had so many Tamil people say something or another to my mother, I had random people police what I wear. To them I say that I really am thriving and doing fine wearing what I want. What I wear is political. It is a tribute to women who are proud to adorn the skin they're in. Remember that your skin is the only thing that holds you as hard as you hold it.
Also, my best friend linked me to this song and it's making my life significantly better. It kind of goes with the carefree vibe/not caring what people think vibe I've been feeling lately.
